I didn’t get a picture of Aaron running across the finish because I was running and screaming and forgot, but I got a good picture of Aaron with his very proud son afterward.

Aaron ran his personal best at 2 hours 56 minutes and 39 seconds. He finished 40th overall and qualified for the Boston Marathon!!! We’re so proud of him!!!!!!

Here are a few photos from the weekend in Duluth. I’m sure most of you followed Aaron’s tweets so no need to recap the races.

This past weekend Aaron and I ran the 12.4 mile, Dam to Dam road race in Des Moines. Neither of us did a great job training but praise the Lord, we finished and we were both pleased with our times. Michael woke up at 4:30a to go to his cousin Addi’s house that morning. Poor Aunt Bekah didn’t get to go back to sleep when Michael arrived. He was awake and ready for the day. Addi and Michael were waiting at the finish line to cheer us in.

Our friends Megan Tjernagel and Nicole Reynolds ran the race as well. It was Megan’s first road race. Both gals did a great job – way to do ladies!!! Aaron’s dad, brother and sister-in-law also ran the race. Everyone finished and in good time so it was a successful morning!

I found this post saved in the drafts. Since we’re fast approaching Michael’s second Grandma’s Marathon, I thought I should get this one up.

Last weekend Michael took his first trip to one of Grandpa Ted’s and Grandma Dawn’s favorite places – Duluth, MN.  Aaron has been going to Duluth for Grandma’s Marathon since he was 14 and this was my third year.  I ran the 5k on Friday night and Aaron and Ted ran the Half Marathon on Saturday morning.

While Michael enjoyed watching people run (yawn),

he thought the best part was getting to hang out with Grandpa and Grandma and Uncle Jake.  We told him that this would be his only year for relaxing in Duluth – next year he’s running the 5k!
